School Life

Extracurricular activities, clubs, and events are avenues where students can demonstrate leadership skills, show their school spirit, and represent Mackenzie Community School (MCS) proudly in the community.

All students are encouraged to become involved in our school and local community through extracurricular teams, clubs, and through volunteering. As part of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements, students must complete 40 hours of community service. You can visit community service requirements for additional information and helpful resource links.

MCS offers a number of intramural and after school activities to suit a variety of students' interests. Whether you want to assist with organizing events like assemblies or semi-formals, join an athletic team, lend your talents to one or more of our extracurricular clubs, or contribute to our performing arts, MCS has the opportunities to make your years here fun and memorable.

Elections for secondary Student Council take place in May for the following school year, and are open to all students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Our secondary panel is divided into Houses - Sigma, Delta, Gamma, and Omega - with students earning House points for their participation in spirit days such as MOGA (Most Outrageous Group Activities) Day and Mafia (Mackenzie Alternative Fun Initiation Activity) Day, and other student council events.

Our elementary Student Council plans spirit days and helps organize other events within the elementary panel throughout the year.

Check out our school calendar to stay informed about what's happening this month. You can also learn about the many fundraisers that make our school activities possible, and how MCS is making a difference in our community.
