A Message from Bob White, General Manager of the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Committee:

RCJTC is OPEN all year long, Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays).

September to June (regular school year)

  • By email or phone from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday
  • In person from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

July to August (summer break)

  • By email or phone from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday
  • In person from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium (RCJTC) is responsible for providing transportation service to over 10,000 Renfrew County students to 53 different schools for both the Renfrew County District School Board and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board.  Three routers are responsible for creating over 200 bus routes to ensure that these students have safe, efficient, effective transportation to and from school daily.  As safety of students is a priority, it takes time, and occasionally a physical review of a designated stop to process transportation requests, especially from mid-August to mid-October when there is a high volume of requests which results in delays in responding to individual requests.

What can you do to help?

  • Please log into the “Parent Portal” by visiting our website (www.onthebus.ca) after August 19th (click here to save the date to your calendar) or at any time throughout the regular school year to confirm your child’s bus information for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • If you haven’t yet subscribed to receive email notifications for cancellations and delays or timing or bus # changes, we encourage you to do so by visiting our website and signing up for subscriptions at any time:
  • Go to our website at www.onthebus.ca;
  • Under the “Portals” heading on the home page click on “student/parent portal”;
  • Enter Student ID (this is your child’s Ontario Education Number which can be found on your child’s most recent report card), Birth Date, School, Grade.  Then select “I’m not a robot” check box;
  • Then click on the “Sign In” Button;
  • Enter your E-mail address and click on the “Subscribe” button;
  • Confirm the subscription process, via the validation email that is sent to you shortly afterwards (within 3 minutes).
  • on changing your child’s addressing or transportation details (your home, your sitter, custody change, etc.)
  • for new families who have moved into the area over the summer months

Newly Elected Student Trustee

Attention to all Mustangs, if you see Hudson Arbour today give him a big high-five. Hudson was recently elected the Renfrew County District School Board student trustee.  This is a very prestigious position and it has been a long time since a Mackenzie student has held this title.  Congratulations Hudson, we’re all proud of you.

WHEN BUSES ARE CANCELLED and your child is a walker who plans on not attending school for the day, we ask you phone the school.  Parents are not required to call when students are busers.

A Message from Bob White, General Manager of the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Committee:

A Reminder to Families with Kindergarten Students:

We all share in the duty to ensure the safety of our students.  We would like to remind parents/guardians that you are responsible for the safety and conduct of your child(ren) at the bus stop prior to boarding the bus and in the afternoon following the drop-off.  In the case of a Kindergarten student afternoon drop off, a trusted responsible person (e.g. parent/guardian/babysitter) must be waiting at the bus stop to receive your child(ren). If no one meets the child(ren) at the bus stop, drivers are directed to take the child(ren) back to school. Repetitive failure to receive Kindergarten student(s) at the bus stop may result in the removal of transportation privileges.

We thank you for your commitment to student safety.
